Whether you like to play or watch, tennis is for everyone! You can participate at any age and anywhere! My love for tennis helped me develop lasting friendships with the many people who I’ve played and practice. If you’re looking for a fun way to get exercise and get competitive, I recommend tennis. You don’t need much to start. A racket and a couple of tennis balls are all that you need. You can play with just one person, or a group of people. And as you progress, you will gain many great experiences and meet amazing people along the way!
If you were to ask for a definition of the game, I would tell you- tennis is a game that consists of rackets, sweat, agony, dedication, and a small yellow ball. As one of the greatest players in history, Billie Jean King, once said, “Tennis is a perfect combination of violent action taking place in an atmosphere of total tranquillity.” This is as much of a physical game as it is a mental one, yet players still enjoy the challenge. My love for the game began when I was 12- yes, I know that's old in tennis years. With my parents’ encouragement, I started taking lessons. I began to enjoy more and more because of the progress I was making, and it was fun too. Ever since, I’ve played as much as I can and put in as much work as I can. I was a part of my middle school and high school team. I play singles mostly, but I also enjoy doubles. During the summer, I participate in different leagues and tournaments. Being with others who appreciate tennis as much as I do makes me happy. We can all be enthusiastic about the game around each other. While watching tennis, I feel as much as a part of the game as when I’m playing. I admit-I really get into it sometimes. I can get happy, mad, excited, frustrated just by watching one match. Grand Slam tournaments are my favorite to watch. I love watching major tournaments because the atmosphere and hype surrounding it ecstatic. September marks the last major tournament of the year, the US Open. The tournament takes place in New York City and generally lasts two weeks. The weather at the US Open is notoriously hot and especially humid. Some players develop cramps from being on the court, and players also go through dozens of bottles of fluid to keep them hydrated. So, competing there is not like taking a stroll through Central Park. The tournament has already seen its fair share of drama this year. Significant upsets of the event were Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal, and Serena Williams- who was in pursuit of the first Grand Slam since 1988. Who knows what the outcome will be, but it will definitely be worth watching.

I have recently started playing tennis, and i admit, it's much harder than it looks! We all just go out and play for fun and for something to do, but it can get intense sometimes! It really brings the competitive side out of me. I look forward to reading more of your posts!

I have played tennis for the past four years so your blog title was so cute I couldn't resist! It was an awesome post about the sport. I get into watching the games just like you do. Last night when Federer and Djokovic were playing I was yelling so loud my room mates had to ask me to quiet down. I can't wait to read more!

I have played tennis with my dad before and it is much harder than it looks. I agree with you on your point about how it is a physical and mental game. I watched the US Open and it was interesting to watch. I enjoy watching people play tennis. I will also enjoy reading more about your blog post this year to find out more about tennis.

If always loved watching tennis, back in England whenever wimbledon comes on i'm always the first to give everyone the updates, unfortunately I have quite bad hand eye coordination so i've never be able to really indulge in the sport, but you're right its great and I get a ridiculous high from watching it! Who's your favourite player?
